When Vivian Harris steps into the ring to fight Diosbelys Hurtado on October 19 he will be on the verge of creating history for Guyana. Should he win it will be the first time that a Guyanese will hold two world titles.

Harris will also team up with elder brother Wayne to become only the second sibling duo from this country to battle for the coveted world title following on the heels of Stephen and Rawle Frank. On May 8, 1993 in Denver, Colorado WBA middleweight champion Reggie Johnson defeated challenger Wayne Harris.

Bernard `The Executioner’ Hopkins had his quickest victory in a title fight when he took less than two minutes of the first round to knock out Steve Frank in a defence of his IBF middleweight crown.

The fight was held on January 27, 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona. Frank’s younger brother Steve twice fought Vernon Forrest for the vacant IBF welterweight title.

The first in Las Vegas on August 26, 2000 ended in a no contest after a clash of heads resulted in a gash on Frank’s forehead.

The return bout staged at Madison Square Garden on May 12 of the following year saw a game Frank losing by points. (Steve Ninvalle)
