Guyana's men and women squash teams continued their winning ways in the Lucozade Sport Southern Caribbean Squash Tournament at the Cascade Hotel Courts, Trinidad, yesterday.

According to reports from Trinidad, the men's team edged their counterparts from Barbados by a 3-2 margin on Thursday night, but made light work of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) yesterday, winning by a 4-1 margin.

The women's team secured their second victory yesterday with a 4-1 victory over the OECS also.

In the Guyana men versus Barbados clash, the tournament's individual men's champion Luke Fraser brushed aside Gavin Cumberbatch 3-0, Shawn Badrinauth beat Marlon Whyte 3-0, Julian Chin defeated Fabian Goodridge 3-1, Robert Fernandes lost by a 2-3 margin to Andy Gill and Damian DaSilva went down to Shawn Simpson 0-3.

When they played their OECS counterparts, Fraser, Badrinauth, Chin and DaSilva beat Charlie Sonson, James Bentick, Mark Borton and Marlon Roudetts by 3-0 margins respectively. Robert Fernandes was edged by Leroy Edwards 2-3.

In the women's competition, Nicolette Fernandes disposed of Alana Simmons 3-0, Kathy Shuffler beat C. Slater 3-0 also, Tiffany Solomon defeated Cherry Renwick 3-1, Andrea King who replaced her sister Kristina beat Vonnie Roudette 3-0 and Denise Jeffrey lost to Lindy Alexander 1-3.

Robert Fernandes told Stabroek Sport he suffered an injury to his thigh and would not be 100 percent fit for the team's final game today against Trinidad. He is however optimistic that both the men's and ladies teams can pull off the double and win the overall title.

Guyana's men team will oppose their counterparts from Trinidad today while the women's team takes on Barbados.

The local contingent will return home tomorrow night.
