PNC/R central executive committee member, Raphael Trotman says he has accepted nominations for several positions at the party’s upcoming congress including that of leader of the party.

The posts he was nominated for at the August 16-18 congress are party leader, party chairman, party vice-chairman and member of the central executive committee.

Contacted yesterday by Stabroek News, Trotman said he has reported to PNC/R general secretary, Oscar Clarke, that he has accepted the nominations for all the posts.

However, which or how many positions he would be contesting would be decided after consultations with the groups which nominated him.

“I thank the groups and their memberships for the confidence they have placed in me. I can’t make any changes until I consult with the groups. The membership will choose which, in their opinion, I’m best suitable for,” Trotman said.

Current PNC/R leader, Desmond Hoyte, and three central executive committee members—PNC/R chairman Robert Corbin, PNC/R vice- chairman Vincent Alexander and Trotman—have been nominated for the post of party leader. Also nominated was George-town member Germaine Vanslutyman. Corbin has already announced that he would not be contesting the post of leader.

Those nominated for the chairmanship of the party are Corbin, Alexander, Trotman, and PNC/R members of parliament Winston Murray, James Mc Allister, and Deborah Backer.

Nominated for the vice-chairmanship are Murray, Alexander, Trotman, Vansluytman, Corbin, Amna Ally, Artie Ricknauth, Deryck Bernard, Faith Harding, Ivor Allen, and B. Ramsaroop. In addition, 70 persons were nominated to vie for the 15 central executive committee positions.
