An Open Letter to the Gunnen of Buxton- Friendship and to those who gave them guns.

I have just read reports of gunmen from Buxton going into Annandale with guns and threatening the peace and security of the residents.

Let me say that I have seen many explanations of what is going in. The Indians of Annandale or of Nonpareil or any other part of Guyana do not deserve the treatment you are giving them. It is sheer madness.

Indians were not responsible for the enslavement of Africans. Get that straight.

Let me tell you that those who gave you guns know nothing about race relations in Guyana and its rights and wrongs. They pick up one thing here and another thing there. They are one-sided and dangerous. I am well acquainted with their 5% truth standards.

I am speaking as the first person in the 20th century to tell the world that there were problems between the two major races of Guyana and to propose solutions. I understand the inter-racial conduct better than those who are fanning your fire and spreading lies, half truths and falsehoods.

Moreover I am the person who in 1964 after Buxtonian casualties took charge of the defence of Buxton Friendship. I can say that we feared an attack from our neighbours in Annandale, but they did not ever attack or attempt to attack. Get that in your pipe and smoke it.

More of this at any time.

When I was 11 the civilised world was opposing Mussolini's attack one Ethiopia as an act of aggression. What you are doing to the people of Annandale and Nonpareil, Indian or African is aggression.

As things are now, I agree with the citizen who has called for a peace keeping force from outside the country. Do not blame my friends and relatives for this opinion. It is mine only.

I am branding those actions against persons passing through our village, and the attacks on Annandale homes and on Nonpareil homes as acts of aggression. Christian, African,Hindu,Muslim, Rastfari faiths all have deep attitudes against aggression.

You must begin now to question those who gave you guns. Give them back the guns and ask them to get out of your life. They are making you into the same kind of sub-human beings who launched aggression against Ethiopia, the Jews and the ordinary people of Europe in the 1930s.

I CALL ON TO TO STRIKE NO ONE FIRST AS MANY OF OUR VILLAGERS AND THEIR FRIENDS HAVE DONE WITH THE CONSENT OF THE GUN-RUNNERS SINCE MAY, 2001.

So far, the Indian Guyanese , whether they have guns or not, have shown better behaviour, yes, better religion, yes better civilisation than we have shown. And I am very jealous of African civilisation and its values. Yours with indignation at the gunmen's aggression love for the divine essence in all people which crying out for expression.
