The Commissioner and Officers of the Guyana Police Force wish to notify the general public that their Evening of Carols and Old Years Night Ball which would normally be held at the Police Officers' Mess annex, Eve Leary, have been cancelled.

A release from the Police said: “We have taken this conscious decision, out of respect for slain and injured Policemen coupled with the need for us to be extra vigilant around this time.”

Similarly, the Inspectors and Sgts. have decided to cancel their Annual Xmas Dinner.

The police wish to thank the public for their understanding of the situation. They also took the opportunity to wish each and everyone a Happy Christmas and a fruitful and rewarding New Year.

The release concluded: “Let us engage in the spirit of the festive season with peace, love and goodwill and remember to guard against excesses.”
