CHURCH services today, with a focus on domestic violence, will usher in the activities to observe the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The day will be observed tomorrow under the theme `Not a minute more: Women and men wake up and work together to stop violence’.

The focus this year is on the abuse of children, women, men, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

The Women's Affairs Bureau (WAB) and a national coordinating committee will mark the occasion with four days of activities beginning today. Activities will also be conducted through Public Education sessions, talks to schools, communities and specialised groups.

Among the activities is a walk tomorrow. The assembly point for the walk is on the avenue in front of Courts, Main St. at 15:30 hrs.

A rally in the Parliament Buildings compound at 16:00 hrs will follow the walk. Visits to schools on Tuesday, and a symposium at the City Hall at 16:00 hrs on Wednesday are also included in the four days of activities.

Concluding the observances for this year is a candlelight procession on Thursday. The venue for this final activity is the University of Guyana Campus, beginning at 17:30 hrs.
