GUYANA’S latest World champions, Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite and Vivian ‘Vicious’ Harris, will now arrive home tomorrow morning instead of today.

A grand reception is in place to welcome home our two heroes, put together by a Special Organising Committee.

Braithwaite will be coming home with the World Boxing Council Cruiserweight belt, while Harris will have the World Boxing Association Super Lightweight (Junior Welterweight) belt.

Secretary of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, Trevor Arno, and officials of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport Lennox Canterbury and Raymond Cummings will be accompanying the boxers home.

At the airport, a government team and officials of the GBBC will meet the champions, with steelband music filling the air.

The boxers will ride to the city in a boxing ring atop a specially converted vehicle.

Mayor Hamilton Green will present the keys to the city to the two champions during a reception at City Hall.

The official itinerary for the rest of the home visit includes a meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo, interaction with sportspersons at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, a luncheon at Georgetown Club and a reception at the Umana Yana, which will be hosted by the Government of Guyana.

Visits to Linden, Bartica and Berbice are also part of the official programme of activities.

On Sunday, Braihwaite and Harris will attend the Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph and in the evening, they will go to a cultural extravaganza staged in their honour at the National Park.

A Plaisance Organising Committee will also have a package for their special son Braithwaite.

The boxers will be accommodated by Hotel Tower.
