MAGISTRATE Chandra Sohan yesterday admitted in evidence the photocopied sheet with preliminary results of the March 19, 2001 general elections, when the treason case resumed.

Admission of the documentation, to which the Defence had objected, followed attestation by Chief Elections Officer Gocool Boodhoo that he has the original.

Boodhoo continued his evidence-in-chief and was cross-examined amidst more exchanges between counsel on both sides.

The 11th witness, Police Lance Corporal Gale Ann Vangronigen spent a total of about 20 minutes under oath.

Now at the General Office in Georgetown, she said she was previously stationed at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara.

The preliminary inquiry into the joint charge for the capital offence against political activists Mark Benschop and Phillip Bynoe continues today with only the remanded prisoner Benschop in the dock and a warrant still out for the arrest of his co-accused.

The two were charged after the mayhem, including arson and robbery, erupted in Georgetown following the July 3 last assault on the Presidential Secretariat, where two persons were shot dead.
