MORE than a dozen mini-buses and other categories of motor vehicles were yesterday hauled into the traffic dragnet as Police mounted an unannounced 'stop-and-search' operation on Mandela Avenue, aback of the Botanic Gardens, Georgetown.

Armed Police took up positions during the afternoon operation.

The checks, which targeted vehicles with `Boom Boom' (heavy music) boxes, also netted a number of other vehicles which were guilty of traffic violations.

These included overloading, the use of dark tints on windows and windscreens, and unlicensed drivers and mini-bus operators and failure to present proper documentation.

The Police have announced that they will once more be stepping up the campaign against the use of dark tints on vehicles which could lend to criminal or other untoward activities.
