October, 50, was gunned down by two men who first sprayed an inflammable substance in his eyes and then shot him six times, Police said yesterday.

The Police Public Relations Department said an investigation has been launched into October's "brutal killing".

The men wanted in connection with the murder are Romel Sylvester Reman, Shawn Marco Gittens, Premium Sukraj known as "Inspector Gadget", and Michael Hanoman Singh known as "Black and Shine" and "Mickey".

Police said they are also wanted for a series of robberies.

Inspector October was gunned down outside Duckie's General Store, Beer Garden and Snackette at 59 Russell Street, Charlestown.

Police investigations revealed that October left his office at the Criminal Investigations Department at the Brickdam Police Station at about 19:45 hrs. along with a male relative.

The two were heading to Middle Road, La Penitence, where October lived, in his black motorcar PHH 6059.

While on their way, both men exited the car to purchase ice cream.

The Police quoted the relative who was with October as saying that as they were returning to the vehicle, he heard shots, and discovered October lying on the road in a pool of blood.

The Police said six bullet wounds were evident on October's lifeless body, and according to a doctor who examined him there was an inflammable substance on his face.

The gunmen, upon killing October, walked south along Russell Street then proceeded east into Sussex Street and disappeared, Police said.

October is survived by his wife and four children.

The Police yesterday issued wanted bulletins for the men and said they are wanted for a series of robberies and the murder of Inspector October.

Police said Reman, 22, is of medium built and has a scar on his left arm. His address was given as 49 Princess Street, Wortmanville or 22 Durban Street, Lodge, Georgetown. He is 5'5" and weighs 130 pounds.

Gittens, exactly two years older than Reman, has a scar on his left shoulder and is of 49 Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, also in the city. His hair is black, his eyes brown and he is 167.5 centimetres tall.

Singh, 36, is slim, weighs 116 pounds and is 162 centimetres tall. His address is given as Thomas and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown. He has surgical marks above and below his left knee.

His mother's name is Rasolan and his father is Bakes Hanoman Singh. His brother, Hardat, is of No. 19 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. His sister, Samola, is of Hadfield Street, Lodge.

Sukraj, 21, is 5'8" tall, and is thin built. His address is given as 35 Groenville, and Buxton, East Coast Demerara. His father, Thakoor, is known as "Gobib", and his mother, Rajkumarie is known as "Sita".

October is the 10th Policemen killed in the crime wave that began with the escape from the Georgetown prison of five dangerous criminals on February 23, last.
