THE brutal attacks which yesterday morning left two Policemen and a teenager dead at Rose Hall, Berbice, were "politically motivated", the People's Progressive Party (PPP) said in a statement yesterday.

The main partner in the governing PPP/Civic (PPP/C) alliance said the attacks again "revealed the collusion with criminal elements".

"The party notes that this is another instance of politically motivated crime coming soon after the July 3 outrage", the statement said.

Illegal protesters linked to the main Opposition People's National Congress Reform (PNC/R) stormed the Office of the President complex in Georgetown on July 3 last and this was followed by the looting and burning of stores on Regent Street and attacks and robberies on citizens in several parts of the city.

The Rose Hall attacks followed the end of the PPP's 27th Congress at Port Mourant, also in Berbice.

The statement said the PPP "wishes to highlight the resolve of the 27th Congress with respect to security, which states that the party is resolved to fight the campaign of violence and terror with all of its strengths and abilities."
