Dutch criminologist, Jacques H Smits continued the search yesterday for the man who is believed to have abducted two Dutch boys and is believed to be in Guyana. Smits told Stabroek News late last evening that he visited New Amsterdam yesterday and residents of the area confirmed that they saw the man and the two boys last Saturday. Smits was also able to confirm that Herman Roelf Ploeger was kicked out of Parkway hotel in New Amsterdam after he was unable to pay the bill. Smits, here with the mother of the two boys, said that residents told him that Ploeger, known in the area as 'Pop Corn man' had boarded a route 50 minibus on Saturday, headed for Georgetown.

Smits said that the mother of the children, Aneta Joanna Szadkowska, took ill yesterday and was on the verge of a breakdown. He said that she had been crying and not eating regularly since the children were abducted.

On Monday, Smits had taken his search to Linden after the two children, Pascal Roelf Ploeger and Timeotheus Withold Ploeger were reportedly seen in a cream 26-seater Linden bus. On his return to Georgetown, Smits had reported that several Lindeners had said that Ploeger might be disguised as a female. He gave them copies of the man's photograph and ranks attached at Wismar Police Station had searched all of the hotels in the town. He told Stabroek News Monday night that he had visited the owner of the mini-bus on Monday, but the driver had already left. He said that the owner had promised him that yesterday the driver would have been questioned on whether he recalled transporting the man to Linden and if so, he along with police ranks would intensify their search. However, he said that he had not heard from them.
