Intelligence reports have indicated that the five prison escapees are still in Guyana and they have at their disposal an adequate support system.

This was disclosed by Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon, yesterday at his weekly press briefing.

"They are not exactly running around utterly dependent on their own proceeds. I believe that all the evidence accumulated over the last week clearly indicate that they enjoy shelter, both physical and other forms, and as such one is dealing with perhaps a community of similar-minded individuals," he told reporters.

Luncheon said the information gathering in the case of the five escapees was not being helped by the inculcation of fear and intimidation of the ordinary citizens by some persons.

The five escaped from the Georgetown Prison on February 23 in a blaze of gunfire killing one prison guard and seriously injuring another. The five are Dale Moore, Andrew Douglas, Troy Dick, Mark Fraser and Shaun Brown.
