Former US Embassy economic affairs officer, Thomas Carroll, is due to come up for sentencing between May 2-3, with the exact date being finalised at a status hearing on April 26.

His co-conspirator in the visa sale ring West Demerara businessman, Halim Khan, is to be sentenced after Carroll and is due to have a status hearing on Friday.

Khan and Carroll pleaded guilty in a Chicago federal court last year to a number of charges related to the sale of non-immigrant visas.

Both were arrested in March two years ago, Khan in Miami and Carroll at his parents' residence in a Chicago suburb.
