Should Eid Ul Adha fall on February 23, Mashramani Day, provision will be made for the congregation of the Queenstown Jama Masjid to worship without much interference on Church Street on that day.

They will be able to access the mosque using stickers provided by the Mashramani Management Committee.

The jamaat (congregation) of the Queenstown Jama Masjid will also endeavour to complete worship before the Mash Day revelry begins.

Secretary to the Queenstown Jama Masjid told Stabroek News that at last Friday's meeting with Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Gail Teixeira, their concerns were addressed and the issue resolved to the satisfaction of all involved.

He noted that should Eid Ul Adha fall on February 23, members of the Queenstown Jama Masjid and members of the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) would be given passes for their vehicles to gain entry to the grounds of the mosque and the MYO ground.

He noted that there were other matters, but said he was not at liberty to discuss them as they were due to issue a joint press release on the issue yesterday. Up to press time no release had been obtained.

Stabroek News understand that some adjustments were also being worked out for the Mash Day route for the costume band and float parade.

The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana with support from the Guyana Islamic Trust had expressed some concern at the two holidays falling on the same day.
