Guyana's World Boxing Association champion Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis has joined his fellow Guyanese in providing assistance to the family of Georgetown resident Brian King who died after being shot by police.

Lewis in collaboration with the National Front Alliance (NFA) political party contributed US$100 to Lovern Samaroo, widow of King at a presentation yesterday.

The money was handed over on Lewis' behalf by Joy Grant-Smith of the NFA at the family's residence at Lot 7 Princes Street Charlestown.

Lewis' representative in Guyana Fiesal Ali said Lewis is a close acquaintance of the deceased.

A number of Guyanese have so far contributed to a fund started by CNS Channel 6 television station owner CN Sharma which raised $182,240 up to Thursday. King was shot in the mouth while in police custody weeks ago and died on Tuesday night, leaving behind his wife and four children.

Meanwhile Ali has disclosed that Lewis is expected back in Guyana from his base in New York for a week at the end of this month.
