Mid-air stabbing case stalled again

THE case surrounding the mid-air stabbing of a pilot and passenger during a domestic flight early last year was stalled again yesterday.

Principal Magistrate Oscar Parvatan adjourned the preliminary inquiry (PI) until February 15, because one of the virtual complainants, Yacoob Mazaharally (Jnr) was absent from Court at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Meantime, Sharon Lall, 21, who is charged on two counts of attempting to murder Mazaharally and Vidya Gooray while they were en route from Ogle, East Coast Demerara to Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast, is free on $150,000 bail.

Mazaharally, 24, who was flying the Air Services Limited ‘Cessna’ when he and Gooray, 45, were attacked, had been scheduled to continue his evidence-in-chief at the PI in which Police Inspector Christopher Griffith is prosecuting.

The matter has been prolonged mainly because the two principal witnesses were not present on several occasions previously and the magistrate, on one occasion, issued arrest warrants for them.
