Dear Editor,

It is most welcome news, like a breath of fresh air from the north east wind, that the President has seen it fit to appoint Mr Winston Felix as the next Commissioner of Police. What is also gratifying is the endorsement by the British High Commissioner Mr. Edward Glover.

Mr Winston Felix has talked the talk and walked the walk since being a member of the Guyana Police Force. His appointment has come at a time when the morale and prestige of the force are at their lowest.

It is a clear indication of his competence that Mr Felix's abilities and capability to head the force are recognised by both the government and opposition. I wish him well.

Let me close with a quatation from the English Poet Tennyson.

"Count life a stage upon thy way
and follow conscience come what may
with heaven and earth sincere,
with hand and brow and bosom clear
Fear God and know no other fear".
I wish him well and may God bless him.

Yours faithfully,
Terrence Paul
