Dear Editor,

Guyana is being subjected to a new plague; that of people writing to the newspapers using false names. The letter columns of your paper seems littered every day with the products of the letter writing factories of the two major parties, plus some others who are too cowardly to use their real names.

Is it not about time that you took steps to filter out this generated junk mail to ensure that the public debate is actually conducted by real people using real names. Please confine the Rickford Burkes and Harry Persauds to the wastepaper bin in your office.

Yours faithfully,

Emmett Grogan

Editor's note

We are aware of the problem and do try to limit these letters. Rickford Burke is a real person.
