I refer to a letter captioned `Afrika should have been corrected' [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] (2.4.2002). The Editor's Note was a feeble attempt to justify leaving the spelling `Afrika' in a letter. I made a contribution in a letter which was not published.

In English speaking countries the correct spelling is Africa, in German speaking countries it is Afrika, in French speaking countries it is Afrique. It is not a matter of right or wrong. It depends on the language. Names of places in most countries are spelt and/or pronounced differently in other countries of different languages.
