Dear Editor,

Dr Kimani Nehusi, an expatriate Guyanese who adopted his present name some years ago, wrote a lengthy comment on the letter "Did Africans produce a written language?" [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] (20.03.02) which was published in the editor's note.
Nehusi keeps spelling Africa and Africans with a "k" The Africans themselves, whether they are French, English, Spanish, Portuguese or Arab speaking always spell Africa and Africans with a "c". The only people who spell or spelt Africa and Africans with a "k" are the Afrikaners of South Africa who established that terrible system of oppression of the Black Man known as Apartheid and the harsh German colonial oppressors in Tanganyika (Tanzania).
Why is Dr Nehusi using this spelling?

Yours faithfully,
Kassa Barnet
