The previous generation destroyed the future

Dear Editor,

Most societies respect their elders. The younger generation in Guyana has had their future destroyed by the previous generation.

The previous generation was delivered a country that was thriving and at the top of the league in terms of development and wealth by their previous generation.

The Afro Guyanese continued to support Burnham even when it was obvious that he was destroying the country. In a similar fashion the Indo Guyanese continued to support the Jagans when it was a sure bet that communism was not good for us. Even today they support the PPP blindly, which is a closet communist party.

So the previous generation should hang their heads in shame for what they have done.

The new generation has to try and remedy the wrongs of their parents. A significant proportion of our previous generation did try but were easily outnumbered by those more vocal and aggressive.

Yours faithfully,

P. Rampersaud
