Dear Editor,

The noise that exists in our society that is called music is shameful.

How can this level of disturbance be encouraged or tolerated? The minibuses are disgraceful and their operators are abusive to passengers who complain.

I call on the police to take a firm stand on these boom boom boxes and on the courts to impose stiff sentences on noise nuisances brought before them.

Guyanese once had high moral standards. Where have they gone?

I call on the authorities to deal with minibuses and citizens who disturb the peace with loud music severely.
