Police must act now To the Editor

The Guyana Chronicle editorial on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 and Bel Airan letter have made a point for East Georgetown Residents.

Bel Air Park is ¾ miles away, downwind from the Sheriff Street entertainment centre. Even with A.C one is not able to keep the noise out.

Can you imagine what resident’s in Campbellville and new Town Kitty are enduring. Why can’t the sound systems be modulated?

The music continues to 05:00 hours or later. What kind of work ethic are we developing nationally? Is the Government not prepared to curb this nuisance?

It is both a noise and a social evil. Do we as a nation want to encourage half asleep workers in the work place?

There is limit to which the Sheriff Street noisemakers will be able to push their luck. Time is longer than twine. Let them hear who have ears to hear. The people affected will not take noise lying down. The Police must act now.
