There has been no move yet to reconvene the political dialogue between the People's Progressive Party (PPP)/Civic and the People's National Congress.

During most of last week, PNC general secretary, Aubrey Norton, who is leading the talks for the PNC with Dr Roger Luncheon of the PPP/Civic, was out of the country and only returned on Friday.

The talks were to be convened following the meeting of the special representatives of the two parties who met at the CARICOM Secretariat last Wednesday.

These talks are expected to iron out the procedures for dealing with the allegations of victimisation and discrimination about which the PNC has been complaining. They are also expected to address other issues of governance.

The agreement signed in St Lucia, has called for "measures and arrangements for the improvement of race relations, including the contribution which equal opportunities legislation and concepts drawn from the CARICOM Charter of Civil Society can contribute to the cause of justice, equity and progress in Guyana."

The agreement also calls for the two parties to "take steps for the early implementation of specific measures to achieve these objectives in advance of Constitutional Reform itself."

Meanwhile, Stabroek News was able to confirm that the information which the PPP/Civic had promised to provide after Wednesday's meeting on the operations of the parliamentary select committee on the Termination of Pregnancy Bill, had been handed over to the PNC.

The two sides are looking at how this committee operated, to see what features could be incorporated into the functions of the parliamentary committee to be established to initiate the consultations on the terms of reference of the Constitution Reform Commission.
