Windscreen flaw delays GA flight

Guyana Airways (GA) 2000's, flight out of Toronto, Canada was delayed for 16 hours on Friday after a fault was discovered with its windscreen.

A statement from Public Communications Consultants Ltd, yesterday said the flight out of Toronto on September 2, had been delayed to accommodate the replacement of a windscreen discovered to have a minor flaw during pre-flight inspection of the aircraft.

The statement said engineers advised replacement of the windscreen to ensure maximum safety of the aircraft. All passengers inconvenienced by the delay were awarded 10% discount certificates for their next flight with GA 2000.

Where necessary, passengers were provided with accommodation or free transportation and all passengers were kept informed with regard to their rescheduled flight times, the release said. Passengers on urgent business were transferred to other airlines where available.

The flight was scheduled to depart Toronto at 2330 hrs on Friday, but was rescheduled to leave at 1500 hrs yesterday and arrive in Guyana at 2045 hrs last night. As a result, the GA 2000 flight to New York which was scheduled to depart the Cheddi Jagan International airport at 0830 hrs yesterday was rescheduled to depart at 2330 hrs yesterday.
