The arbitration tribunal enquiring into the differences existing between the GPSU/FUGE and the Guyana Government will now be involved in drafting its report.
According to a press release issued on Saturday by Chairman, Dr Aubrey Armstrong, the tribunal "is quite optimistic of its award by the end of the month".
The panel which held its final hearing on Friday was responsible for looking into increases of wages and salaries for public service employees for 1999 and 2000. Members were also tasked with looking at the legitimate right of the public service employees as part of the Guyanese community to access funding for poverty alleviation.
The final day's meeting dealt with two witnesses--Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Ministry, Robin Sivanand, and Adviser on Budgeting, Ministry of Finance, Winston Jordan. The meeting also dealt with rebuttals from the union and government sides.
The tribunal will meet again on August 30.
