Chief Executive Officer of GA 2000, Anthony Mekdeci, has said that the problems with the Waterchris catering service could be resolved if its management could come up with solutions to the problems the airline has identified.

Mekdeci told Stabroek News that apart from complaints about the quality of the food, there were also concerns about the timeliness of the delivery of the food as well as security concerns about the number of people around the aircraft prior to departure.

In the meantime, Mekdeci confirmed that GA 2000 had opted for round-trip catering from established firms in New York and Toronto whose principal and only operations are flight kitchens.

Mekdeci, however, reiterated GA 2000's commitment to Guyanese enterprises and businesses wherever possible and said that GA 2000 still intends to make use of the services of Waterchris Hotel despite having to suspend its catering contract.

Last week, GA 2000 suspended its trial contract with Waterchris giving it just one day's notice before the suspension took effect.

A Waterchris official denied that the hotel had been notified about any quality concerns and blamed its late delivery on the lack of coordination between the airline's security department and the airport security at Timehri.
