Top West Indies batsman Brian Lara has been accused of physically abusing his British girlfriend Lynnsey Ward at his posh Cotton Hill, St Clair, mansion on Boxing night.

Ward reported to St Clair Police that she was at Lara's home around 10 p.m. on Wednesday when they got into an argument over their lateness to attend a party.

Ward claimed that Lara whose left arm has been in a cast since dislocating his shoulder in Colombo, Sri Lanka during the third match of the recently concluded LG Abans One Day series in that country, hit her several times.

Hurt, she left the house immediately and went to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment. There, she was examined by the doctor on duty and asked to be directed to the nearest police station. She reported the incident first to the nearby Belmont station but was referred to the St Clair Police station, a stone's throw away from Lara's house.

The British model, who has been at Lara's side shortly after shooting to stardom last year, repeated her allegations to St Clair police. However, she indicated she did not want to press charges against Lara but wanted to have him warned.

Ward was escorted back to the house where she removed her belongings and checked into the Trinidad Hilton. Ward reportedly left the country on Thursday.

Lara nor his attorney Cecil Camacho could be contacted for comment.

Ward was selected from a list of over 1000 girls as the Daily Star's Millennium Babe in 1999 and her modelling career has since skyrocketed. She works with Britain's top modelling agency Premier, and has featured in a series of magazine covers.
