Contracting company BK International is still to meet the team appointed by the government to investigate the November 3 breach at the East Demerara Conservancy Dam, which resulted in the flooding of Cane Grove, Mahaica.

Contacted by this newspaper on Tuesday, the construction company's engineer, Garfield Barrow, stated that to the best of his knowledge there had been no communication between the investigative team and BK with reference to the breach.

Efforts to contact head of the investigative team, Dr Harold Davis proved futile.

Meanwhile, according to Barrow, BK was still undertaking work on the dam as part of the contract awarded to it to raise its level. The work comprised three phases with the first two being of eight miles each and the last phase, 14 miles. All three were awarded to the contracting company and were being carried out simultaneously.

The area where the breach occurred was said to have been in the catchment zone of the first phase where work commenced last year.
