Three more Guyanese have been confirmed as missing as a result of the destruction of the twin towers at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York, a week ago yesterday.

This brings the toll of the Guyanese missing as a result of the terrorist attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington DC to 22.

Those now confirmed as missing are Sarah Khan, Rudy Bacchus and Amarnauth Lutchman.

Khan, a 32-year-old mother of two, worked for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor of the north tower. Khan's husband Nizam told Stabroek News from his South Ozone Park, New York home yesterday that he had had no news of his wife since last Tuesday. According to the distraught husband, his wife migrated to the US about eight years ago and had been working at Cantor Fitzgerald for the past two years.

Bacchus, a 48-year-old stockbroker, was attending an early morning Risk Water Conference at the Windows on World restaurant on the 107th floor in the north tower.

And late yesterday, Guyana's Ambassador to the United States, Dr Odeen Ishmael, informed Stabroek News that Lutchman, who lived in Long Island and worked at the World Trade Center complex had been reported missing.

Dr Ishmael told Stabroek News too that Guyana's Consul General in New York, Brentnol Evans, was still experiencing difficulties in checking the names of Guyanese missing in WTC attack from the New York City authorities. He said that the city authorities were now asking for passports or social security numbers before releasing any names.

The other Guyanese declared missing so far are Kris Romeo Bishundat, Navy Information Systems Technician, who was stationed at the Pentagon when the terrorists crashed the American Airlines aircraft into the building; Shivonne Mentis who resides at Hollis, Queens and who worked with Marsh Enterprises on the 93rd floor in the north tower; Astrid Sohan, who worked with Marsh and McLennan in one of the towers; Ronald and Kamini Singh who worked at Windows on the World, on the 107th floor in north tower; Shiv Shankar, of Richmond Hill; Anett Dataram, of South Ozone Park, New York; former Guyana middle order batsman Nizam Hafiz who worked on the 94th floor in the north tower; Patrick Adams, a former Guyana Defence Force senior non-commissioned officer who worked for Fuji Bank as a security officer on the 80th floor; John Charles, another security officer at the WTC; Babita Guman and Sita Shewnarine who worked for Fiduciary Trust on the 97th floor in the southern tower; Joyce and Patricia Stanton, Vanavah Thompson who worked for ABM and was assigned to Marsh USA and was last seen on the 73rd floor; Gregory John, Ameena Rasool, Ricknauth Jaggernauth who had been employed at NTX Interiors on the 104th floor of one of the towers; and Hardai Prabhu who worked with Marsh and Maskan on the 98th floor of the towers.
