Fresh off a second round stoppage of Matthew Charlestown earlier this month, Guyanese cruiserweight boxer `Trojan' Wayne `Big Truck' Braithwaite will move a step closer to a world title fight

Ranked fourth by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and 12th by the WBA, Braithwaite is scheduled to fight WBC number four Louis "The Lion" Azille in an eliminator to determine who will meet WBC champion Juan Carlos Gomez.

No date has been set for the eliminator but the WBC has ordered purse bids. According to internet website Fightnews.com, bids must reach the WBC offices no later than next Thursday.

Marcelo Dominguez, the WBC number one ranked cruiserweight, has opted to challenge World Boxing Council champion Johnny Nelson on July 21 in Sheffield, England.

The undefeated Braithwaite is on a mission to become the second Guyanese to win a world title following welterweight Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis who won the WBA crown in February.

He has only fought once this year. Twelve of his 15 professional fights ended via the knockout route. At present he trains at the Gleason Gym in New York under the eye of Colin Morgan. (Steve Ninvalle)
