Work has commenced on the Stabroek Market and as promised the stallholders have not been dislocated.

The market is being rehabilitated at a cost of $150 million with funding by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Urban Development Programme (UDP). Contractor R. Bassoo & Sons who has a ten-month completion period has since proposed that the rehabilitation work be concluded in February next year.

He has sent that proposal to the Mayor & City Council (M&CC) who will peruse the document and make their comments known to the contractor.
