META airline made an inaugural flight from Boa Vista, Brazil to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri last Thursday to establish its direct Guyana service.

Aboard the 30-seater Embraer Brasilia turboprop aircraft which touched down here after a one-hour flight were the president of META, several crew members and a press team from Brazil, a Guyenterprise release said.

The local META manager and their ground handling agents, Timehri Aviation Services, met the visitors at a brief reception in the Executive Lounge at the airport.

META's president, Captain Francisco Mesquita, in a short address, expressed confidence that the "aircraft, service and fares will be attractive to Guyanese."

"We hope the convenience of this direct flight will encourage many to visit Brazil and for Brazilians to visit Guyana," Captain Mesquita said, adding that "some will find it useful to make connections with the Caribbean and Europe through Guyana."

The local META office is at Hotel Tower, the release added.
