With his victory over James Page Saturday night, Andrew 'Sixhead' Lewis has been categorised with boxing greats World Boxing Council welterweight champion 'Sugar' Shane Mosley and former champion Oscar De La Hoya.

Following Lewis' severe beating of Page, President of Top Rank Promotions Bob Arum opined that Lewis could be put in the league of the two fighters.

"I think that Lewis is brilliant. He has a tremendous career now and capable of taking on the best including (Shane) Mosley, (Oscar) De La Hoya or another welterweight out there. I think he is the hardest punching welterweight around and he has shown a lot of skills avoiding the punches of Page who is a very good puncher and has the best chin in the business. It was an incredible performance tonight. " Arum told Stabroek News.

"All credit must go to Lewis. Page is a very tough guy and he beat the best of them." Asked if he was surprised by the talent of the `Albouystown Cyclone', Arum, who recently signed a contract with the Guyanese said: " He (Lewis) never really fought anybody of Page's calibre. This was a real test for him and you will have to give him an A plus. He came out with flying colours."

According to Arum, plans are already afoot to have Mosley and Lewis fighting different opponents on the same card. "The next time Mosley fights (not his upcoming fight against Shannon Taylor) we will have Lewis on the card. So Mosley will fight someone and Lewis another. Then if everything is right, we'll have them fight each other at the end of the year.'" Lewis increased his unbeaten record to 21-0 with 19 knockouts.

Lewis just missed out on a prediction made by manager Nelson Fernandez. "I predicted that it would have been `Sixhead' in six and the knockout came in the seventh round," Fernandez disclosed. Lewis took target practice on the former champion Page to take the vacant WBA welterweight title via a seventh round TKO. "It took an extra round but he did everything right and he is only going to get better. A lot of people don't know this game and where 'Six' is at now.

"When he won the NABF title I said that he is an intelligent man inside the ring. He snatches opportunities. Today he took a giant leap as Page was the most feared man in the welterweight division. Ask De La Hoya, ask Oba Carr ask everybody. We came, we saw and we conquered."

"We went into this fight hearing everybody saying that Page can hit and watch out for him. I always said that we can match Page's power. `Sixheads' can take the power. We wanted this to be the coming out party for the next super star in boxing and it was," Fernandez disclosed.

"We wanted to go out and do a lot of boxing. I wanted `Six' to break the record for the amount of jabs thrown. We initiated everything off the jab and once there was the opening, to drop the hammer. 'Six Heads' dropped the hammer quite a few times tonight. You are only looking at the tip of the iceberg he is going to get better. "We wanted to show everybody that he `Sixheads' can bang, he can box and has good defence. We proved that tonight. You must understand that `Six' never gives 98 percent, he gives 110. We as trainers and managers have to give him back one hundred percent. The title proves that it was a total team effort."

Asked about Lewis next opponent, Fernandez, who has been in the business for over 25 years", said Shane Mosley.

"Basically I want Shane Mosley. It's just the same way that I was tooting a long horn saying that we wanted to fight Vernon Forrest. They never wanted to fight us. Now I'm saying it publicly. Shane Mosley come out. We can match your speed but can you handle the power."

"When I went into the ring tonight I felt as much Guyanese as if I was born in Guyana. When you have a man like 'Six' who has become part of us, he has trusted his career and put his future in my hands, I felt that I had to do it for Guyana," Fernandez reasoned.

Trainer Angel De Jeusus, who broke into tears when the referee stopped the contest, claimed that Lewis forgot about the fight plan for the first two rounds.

"Our game plan was to box then to knock him out in the later rounds. He was too strong for Page in the first two rounds so, automatically, he thought he could do what he wanted to. So he had to come back down to reality and listen to his corner," Jesus said.

"You have to give Page credit. He was the world champ and never lost the title in the ring. The thing is that we did what we came here to do. We have got the title. Guyana was waiting on it, now they have it."
