The cost of an average weekly grocery list has changed little from June of 1998 to March 2000 although most imported items have gone up. However, the cost to cook the meal whether by kerosene or cooking gas has soared due to the tripling of world oil prices.

Below is a list of the most commonly purchased items for preparing a meal selected from Bureau of Statistics figures, comparing June 1998, March 1999 and March 2000.
