This year's official trade and investment exposition will be launched today and aims to stimulate the export of local products and services.

A press release yesterday from the organisers said that GUYEXPO'00 is being organised by the Guyana Office for Investment in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Industry under the theme "Showcasing Guyana For The New Millennium".

It will be officially launched by Minister of Trade, Tourism and Industry, Geoffrey Da Silva at the Caribbean Rose Restaurant at 9 am.

GUYEXPO'00 is scheduled for August 24-27 at the National Exhibition Centre, Sophia, the release stated. Among the highlights of the exposition will be the re-introduction to the exhibition of livestock, wildlife and aquarium fish to create an awareness of their potential. Seminars will also be designed to stimulate investment in Guyana's growing sectors and feature opportunities in untapped areas.

Organisers further said that invitations to attend have been extended regionally and internationally to potential buyers and investors, whilst Guyana's diplomatic missions will be entrusted with the task of promoting participation by overseas buyers.
