North American Airlines has outgrown its office at Cara Suites and has moved to a bigger one at 126 Carmichael Street, which was officially opened on Tuesday.

NAA Guyana representative Jennifer De Barros at the simple ceremony said the opening of the office was an act of faith, since it was not clear how the market would have responded. She said, she knew that NAA had a good product to offer the travelling public.

According to De Barros, the company started off small and at that time in last July, it worked out well. The move to the bigger office was evidence of growth, she said and vowed that the airline would offer an enriched product.

President of the Guyana Association of Travel Agencies (GATA), Debbie Gouveia, said NAA's entrance into the market ensured that there were many travel options which had made air fares more competitive. She said with the country embarking on its tourism drive, hassle-free travel was a major objective. Gouveia pledged GATA's continued support.

Vice-President of Marketing of NAA overseas, Bruno Scaldafferi, noted that the airline would be starting its scheduled service on May 5. NAA, he said, had never wanted to launch a scheduled service before, but felt that Guyana was ready to receive more foreign travellers and the airline wanted to be here.

The opening of the new office was said to be a part of the United States flag carrier's upgrading of its Guyana operations.

The new office was blessed by Rev John Oswald Smith.
