Death of teen takes road fatality to 40

A teenager has died following an accident on the West Coast Demerara public road yesterday morning.

His name was given as Vishal Kissoon, 16, of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the Ambulatory Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital.

Reports reaching Georgetown indicated that Kissoon was riding his pedal cycle along the Windsor Forest public road, West Coast Demerara when he was hit by a mini-bus.

Kissoon was taken in an unconscious condition to the West Demerara Hospital where he received some medical attention before being transferred to the city hospital.

So far 40 persons have been killed on the roads this year compared with 36 for the corresponding period last year.
