The power company is continuing work on upgrading its transmission systems.

Guyana Power and Light Inc is concentrating on the unification of all power supply to the more reliable 60 hertz frequency with work in Providence, Bagotstown and Greenfield Park. Remaining areas for conversion include Central Georgetown and the East Bank up to Agricola. Crews are also replacing old copper conductors with new aluminum wire in the Fifth Street Alberttown area.

A GPL press release said that the Middle Street Cash office will not be open until tomorrow.
