The PPP is acclaiming the joint forces operation against Linden 'Blackie' London on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as a "professionally executed operation."

A release from Freedom House yesterday said that considering that there was "only minimal damage to property... and the loss of only two lives in a stand off lasting 11 hours, the operation could be described as successful and effectively executed."

The PPP is concerned by "those, some of whom are ensconced in sections of the print and electronic media who consistently malign and accuse the police and army of inefficiency. They do nothing to help the fight against crime. They also openly side with criminals in every confrontation."

The release noted that "the deceased bandit was wanted 'dead or alive' in connection with 14 robberies and two murders" and "the PPP condemns the irresponsibility and cheap sensationalism by certain media operatives to portray ruthless outlaws as heroes.

"The PPP urges government to spare no effort to provide the seriously wounded GDF soldier Private Lennox Harvey and the wounded policeman Sherwyn Smith with the necessary attention and support."
