Antigua-based Guyanese to celebrate Mashramani

Club El Dorado, an Antigua-based association of Guyanese, will host this year's Mashramani celebrations on February 20 to mark the country's 30th republic anniversary.

This is the fourth year in succession that Club El Dorado will be hosting Mashramani within the Guyanese community in Antigua.

According to reports out of Antigua, the activity which starts at noon will include a family fun day and a cultural presentation. Former Mashramani calypso monarch, the Mighty Rebel has been invited by the association to perform as a guest artiste.

The event, which will be staged at St George's V Sports Ground in St John's, is open to other nationalities. Of the 68,000 population on the island, it is estimated that the Guyanese community there is about 10,000.
