HIGH Court Judge Carl Singh reported yesterday that the first part of his probe report on the violence during the 55-day Public Servicve pay strike was lost in a break-in Monday night.

He said the documentation was taken from his chambers at the Victoria Law Courts building where the burglary took place.

The judge said Police took fingerprints but, up to late yesterday, had not apprehended any suspects.

Justice Singh disclosed that a few pages of his decision in the Revenue Authority challenge by Comptroller of Customs Clarence Chue and Patrick Hyman were also removed in the heist.

Other important files, including about condemned murderers Abdool Saleem Yassin and Noel Thomas and the Felicia Baird land dispute were on the same desk but remained untouched.

The judge he is wondering if the motive for removing the papers was to ascertain his thinking in the matters mentioned.

The breakage was discovered shortly after 8 am yesterday by the judge's registrar, Robert Ganesh.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Premsukh said an inner door at the Court was forced open to allow entry into the judge's chambers.

The Police officer said impressions were taken from desk drawers for scientific examination.

Justice Singh said he was half way through his compilation about the violent incidents that occurred during the work stoppage by public servants and had left the finished portion on his desk along with a number of important writings.

The judge told the media yesterday that he, however, still has the notes of evidence taken at the Commission of Inquiry.
