MISS Indra Changa is due to leave this afternoon to represent Guyana at the Miss World contest in London on December 4.

Culture, Youth and Sport Minister, Ms Gail Teixeira, who coordinated the government response to Changa's appeal for funds to participate in the contest, last night said all arrangements had been finalised for her to leave on a flight to London this afternoon.

The Willems Timber Company yesterday joined other private firms helping to meet the bill to send Changa.

The money transfer company, Western Union, covered the airline ticket, designer payment for her outfits and some pocket money.

Teixeira said the government, among other help, has provided a piece of sculpture and two paintings, worth some $150,000, as the contestant's official gifts.

Naraj Bridal Store and B&R auto accessories of Lamaha Street, also gave her a silver necklace set and two imported evening gowns.
