BERBICE residents are urging Health Minister, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy to take firm disciplinary measures against negligent medical personnel at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

They are claiming that for sometime now they have been suffering from inefficient and unreliable medical service at the institution.

Yesterday residents demonstrated outside the New Amsterdam Hospital against the state of affairs there, carrying placards and calling on the relevant authorities for an improved medical service.

The demonstrators called for an urgent meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Health and the removal of the hospital administration, its Medical Superintendent and the Regional Health Officer of Region Six.

They also expressed concern about the number of lives that have been lost due to doctors not responding promptly.
