INTERNATIONALLY-acclaimed local artist cum sculptor and creator of the ‘1763 Monument’, Mr. Philip Moore, was treated to a rollicking birthday bash on Friday by the Castellani Management Committee at the National Art Gallery, Castellani House, for his 80th birthday.

The late afternoon affair saw a favourable turnout from the local art community and other well-wishers and the ‘birthday boy’ receiving a slew of presents, including a special gift from former Head of State and Chairman of the Castellani Management Committee, Ms. Janet Jagan.

A selection of Moore’s works, which form part of the National Collection, went on exhibition at Castellani House yesterday.

The show, which runs until Saturday, November 24, reportedly spans the artist’s working career of over 50 years, and includes some of his earlier works such as ‘Spirit Guide’ which was done in 1947, and the Collection’s most recent acquisition, ‘Run, Rohan, Run’ which was done sometime this year.
