THE case surrounding the mid-air stabbing of two people, during a domestic flight here earlier this year, took an unusual turn yesterday when Principal Magistrate Oscar Parvatan issued warrants for the victims.

The Court ordered the arrest of the pilot, Yacoob Mazaharally (Jnr), of Air Services Limited and Vidya Gooray and adjourned the trial of Chronicle Reporter Sharon Lall sine die (indefinitely).

Lall, 21, of Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown, is charged on two counts of attempted murder and is free on $150,000 bail.

Magistrate Parvatan took the action, at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara yesterday, after the two virtual complainants were absent again without any excuses.

On previous occasions, Police Inspector Christopher Griffith, prosecuting, had reported when Mazaharally and Gooray were in and out of the jurisdiction.

Lall is alleged to have stabbed Mazaharally, 24 and Gooray, 45, while they and Gooray's nine-year-old daughter were on board a Cessna plane shortly after takeoff from Ogle, East Coast Demerara en route to Spring Gardens, Essequibo Coast.

Fortunately, the flyer was able to return the aircraft to Ogle without fatalities and the injured were rushed to hospital.
