POLICE used barricades to control a crowd which gathered at the entrance to the Georgetown Magistrates' Courts yesterday when television `Sunrise Show' host Clem David made an appearance.

Inside the courtroom was also packed when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Paul Fung-A-Fat charged with using threatening language to Mohamed Nasseer Hassan on February 10 at Japarts building, Lot 30 Croal Street, in the city, too.

The defendant, of Lot 123 Regent Road, Bourda, another street in the capital, was freed on his own recognisance and is to be back in Court April 11.

Attorney-at-law Mr Basil Williams, representing David, indicated he would file a cross charge against Hassan.

The lawyer said the defendant was threatened by the owner of the business place who told David he would be killed like dead bandit Linden London called `Blackie'.

Counsel said David was charged by the Police when he attempted to report the threat.

However, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Faye Bremmer offered a different version.

She said Hassan and another employee of Japarts were talking about `Blackie' when David, who was passing, enquired if Hassan was speaking to him.

Hassan replied in the negative but David threatened to kick him and that was reported to the Police, Bremner said.
