THIRTY women living at St Denny's Mission in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) have formed a group to help alleviate their plight as single parents.

Village Captain Doreen Jackobis told the Hinterland and Amerindian Affairs Sub-Committee of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) their goal is to focus on projects which would provide them jobs and help generate income.

She said the single parents ratio is high in that community where four women were recently trained in needlework, sewing and other handicraft.

Mrs Jackobis said they will soon venture into making pineapple chunks and cultivating peanuts on a larger scale for manufacturing butter.
